School and college students - strike against the war

YOUNG PEOPLE are rarely taken seriously by politicians and the media. We are the last group of people they think to ask the opinions of. The irony of it is that young people are some of the most angry and outspoken about war on Iraq.

International Socialist Resistance (ISR) members found this out when we were swamped leafleting schools and colleges over the last few weeks.

In England and Wales we are building for school and college strikes against the war on 7 March and on 'Day X' - the first day of war.

In schools and colleges across the country, anti-war committees are being set up to involve as many students as possible in organising the strikes.

Some schools have decided to organise after school ballots to advertise the strike action and help ensure everyone in the school and college know when, where and at what time the protests will be taking place.

It is also important for different schools and colleges in a local area to link up and meet together to swap ideas and help each other build for the strikes and get more schools involved in the action who may not already know about it.

We have Youth Against the War pledge forms, leaflets and petitions available to send to anyone interested in building strikes and protests in schools and colleges. Contact us for material or help in your school or college.
